About 20,000 people attended a protest in Berlin against Germany’s coronavirus measures, according to the BBC.
The demonstrators were arguing that mask rules violated their freedoms and rights.
“Police broke up the protest, saying organisers had not respected coronavirus hygiene regulations,” the BBC reports. The dispersal order came at the end of the afternoon.
Officials say the demonstrators were not adhering to regulations, including a five foot social distancing requirement.
There have been over 210,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and over 9,000 deaths in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic.
