The National Rifle Association (NRA) has sued New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo over the state’s decision to close gun shops during the COVID-19 crisis, according to Bloomberg.
The NRA is saying that the “restriction is unconstitutional and leaves citizens defenseless while prisoners are being released early as a result of the crisis.”
The organization calls the decision to close the shops a “pointless and arbitrary attack on the constitutional rights of New York citizens and residents.”
The lawsuit continues by saying that New York is “going out of their way to protect liquor stores and release criminals onto the streets, while ignoring the public’s outcry over the suspension of Second Amendment rights.”
