Cap. Douglas Linn Hickok of the New Jersey National Guard has become the first U.S. service member to die of COVID-19 coronavirus, according to New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy.
Hickok, who was a drilling guardsman and a physician’s assistant for the National Guard. He was hospitalized on March 21 and passed away this weekend.
The National Guard was deployed earlier this month in efforts to help stop the spread of coronavirus “by helping to direct traffic at drive-by testing sites and distributing food and supplies where necessary,” according to Fox News
