UPDATE: Officials now say the individual in New Jersey DOES NOT have coronavirus (11:10 p.m. ET 1/23/20)
A patient in New Jersey is being evaluated for the new coronavirus that originated in China, according to NorthJersey.com.
The outlet states that “A patient at Hackensack University Medical Center was being evaluated Thursday night for possible infection with the coronavirus.” (9:20 p.m. ET 1/23/20)
Officials in Snohomish County, Washington, are monitoring 43 people who had close contact with the first American who was diagnosed with coronavirus earlier this week.
KING 5 reports that health officials are calling close contacts of the 30-year-old daily to check with them to see if they have any symptoms.
The media outlet reports that “The man returned to the U.S. from Wuhan, China on Jan. 15, traveling through Sea-Tac International Airport. The virus is believed to have originated from Wuhan. He appears to have developed symptoms after visiting and was hospitalized at Providence Medical Center in Everett. He is being monitored in an isolation unit.” (8:13 p.m. ET 1/23/20)
