A former Gulf Cartel leader has been convicted in an international drug trafficking case, the Justice Department announced Thursday.
Jorge Costilla-Sanchez, 48, was an active member of the “Cartel Del Golfo,” a violent Mexican criminal organization who specializing in importing cocaine and marijuana into the United States.
During his time with the cartel, Costilla-Sanchez was reportedly responsible for overseeing all operations that eventually resulted in the importation of thousands of kilograms of cocaine and marijuana into the U.S.
Costilla-Sanchez’s sentencing is scheduled for April 14th. He faces a sentence of up to life in prison.
