NEWS BREAKING ALERT (11:03 p.m. ET 1/7/20) — Two earthquakes have been reported in Iran over the past two hours, according to the EMSC seismology service.
A 4.9-earthquake hit southern Iran at about 5:50 a.m. local time. The epicenter was 21 km SE of Borazjan, Iran.
A second earthquake, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake, struck the same area at around 6:49 a.m. local time. It was a shallow earthquake at a depth of about 2 km.
