Congressman Accused of Fraud in New Lawsuit

Rep. T.J. Cox has been accused of defrauding investors and keeping an active role in businesses after divesting, the San Joaquin Valley Sun reports.

Rep. Cox (D-CA), is accused of maintaining involvement in some of his companies, including a Canadian gold mining firm, after he had formally divested from them.

The lawsuit, filed by two doctors and Cox’s wife, claims he defrauded them of $150,000 plus interest by failing to disclose conflicts of interest and make loan repayments.

Lawyers for the three plaintiffs, Cox, Murphy, and Troy Equipment Leasing are expected in court for a conference on April 23rd.
