Cleveland Paramedics and Firefighters Injured in Crash While Transporting Shooting Victim to Hospital

Two Cleveland, Ohio, firefighters and two paramedics were injured in an early Saturday morning crash while transporting a shooting victim to the hospital, police said.

The crash happened at about 12:15 a.m. The 20-year-man being taken to the hospital was shot about two miles from where the crash happened. A firefighter was driving the ambulance while another firefighter and two paramedics were in the back of the ambulance caring for the shooting victim who was in critical condition, police said.

A woman driving a 2016 Kia Sorento hit the left rear of the ambulance causing it to rotate and almost flip over before hitting another car that was stopped at an intersection, police said. The ambulance went off the side of the road and struck a utility pole.

The crash is under investigation. Police did not release the current conditions of everyone involved.
