Edward Aschoff, an ESPN reporter who covered college sports, has died at 34, the network announced in a statement.
Aschoff died on Christmas Eve of pneumonia. Christmas Eve was also his 34th birthday.
In their statement, ESPN said, ““We are very sorry to have to share the devastating news of the tragic passing of friend and ESPN colleague Edward Aschoff. He died earlier today, his 34th birthday. Our thoughts are with his loved ones, including his fiancée Katy.”
Aschoff had recently tweeted about his pneumonia, saying that nights “are basically fever and coughing and sweating.” Variety reports that the pneumonia had progressed into multifocal pneumonia.
