A woman in Russia was seriously injured after she fell out of the back of an ambulance. The paramedics were unaware that she fell out after driving 16 miles.
Galina Dmitriyeva, 56, was being transported to from one hospital to another for observation. During the transport, the paramedic sat in the front with the driver and Dmitriyeva was alone in the back of the ambulance.
Dmitriyeva began feeling worse and attempted to get the paramedic’s attention. The paramedic ignored her pleas for help. As she tried to get closer to the paramedic, she fell against the unlocked back door and fell to the road.
The ambulance crew drove for 16 miles before they saw that the patient wasn’t there. The woman was found lying in the road and another ambulance took her to the hospital.
Dmitriyeva said that she broke her jaw, leg, and hip and has not received an apology from the ambulance company. The paramedic faces charges and could be sentenced up to a year in jail.
