Anna Karina, the French New Wave actress who became an international star in films directed by her then-husband Jean-Luc Godard, has died. She was 79.
Karina died Saturday in Paris from cancer, her agent said. Her husband, Dennis Berry, was by her side.
Karina and Godard were married from 1961-1964 and she was his muse in such movies as, “A Woman Is a Woman” (1961), “Band of Outsiders” (1964), “Pierrot le Fou” (1965) and “Alphaville (1965).” She was also a former fashion model and released several albums as a singer.
