Actor Danny Aiello has died on Friday at the age of 86.
TMZ is reporting that the actor’s family said he died at a medical facility in New Jersey where he was being treated for a sudden illness. They also reported that he was dealing with an infection related to an injection site and died shortly after his family left after visiting him.
Aiello is best known for his role as Sal the pizza guy in Spike Lee’s film “Do The Right Thing” in 1989. He earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor.
He also played Tony Rosato in “The Godfather Part II.” His other credits include “Fort Apache the Bronx,” “Once Upon a Time in America,” “The Purple Rose of Cairo,” “Hudson Hawk” and “Moonstruck.”
He is survived by his wife, Sandy, and their three children.
