RUSSIA (News Breaking LIVE) — Russia’s only aircraft carrier has “burst into flames,” according to Russian media and international reports.
The aircraft carrier was undergoing repairs when the fire broke out in the engine room on the second deck, quickly spreading to 600 square meters in size, according to Business Insider.
Russian media is reporting that eight people have been injured, and earlier reported that three were unaccounted for. Two of those injured are said to be soldiers.
Several of the injuries are serious, and six of the eight who were injured are in the intensive care unit of the hospital, according to Russian media.
Business Insider notes that “Aleksey Rakhmanov, head of the state-run United Shipbuilding Corporation, told Interfax that “a human factor” may have caused the fire.”
The ship was previously damaged in October, when a crane toppled over onto it.
