Conservationist and TV personality David Bellamy has died at the age of 86, BBC News reports.
Bellamy, born in London, reportedly died Wednesday, according to the Conservation Foundation he founded. He gained public attention for working as an environmental consultant over the Torrey Canyon oil spill, when a tanker was shipwrecked in 1967.
In recent years, he had garnered criticism for his views on global warming, including in 2004 when he referred to it as “poppycock.”
In his career, Bellamy presented shows such as “Don’t Ask Me,” “Bellamy On Botany,” “Bellamy’s Britain,” “Bellamy’s Europe,” and “Bellamy’s Backyard Safari.”
