Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson has died at 61, according to an official statement from her management team. The statement says that Fredriksson died Monday after a 17-year battle with cancer.
After a solo career, Fredriksson joined Per Gessle in 1986 to form Roxette. They are best known for the songs “It Must Have Been Love” from 1986, “Listen to Your Heart” from 1988 and “The Look” from 1988.
Fredriksson was first diagnosed with a severe brain tumor in 2002, according to the statement. Fredriksson is survived by her husband and two children, the statement says.
