A Fayetteville, Arkansas, police officer was shot and killed near the Fayetteville Police Station about 9:40 P.M. Saturday night.
The suspect, who hasn’t been identified, is dead, according to Police Chief Mike Reynolds. Officers who were inside the police station heard gunshots and immediately responded to the back parking lot. They found one officer down, and a suspect running from the area.
Officers chased the suspect and engaged in a shootout before the suspect was shot and killed. Investigators have no information on a motive.
In a press conference, Fayetteville Police Chief Mike Reynolds said there seems to have been no motive at all and it “appears the suspect came into the back parking lot and just executed my officer.” The officer was indentified Sunday morning as Stephen Carr.
