Singer R. Kelly has been charged with using bribes to marry a 15-year-old girl, the New York Times reports.
Kelly reportedly bribed an Illinois government employee in 1994 in order to obtain a fake ID for fellow singer Aaliyah, according to the indictment. He then used this to obtain a marriage license with the fake ID, which stated she was 18.
The new allegation is an expansion on the existing racketeering indictment filed in New York against Kelly that accuses him of sexually exploiting underage girls and coercing them into illegal sexual activity.
Aaliyah, whose full name was Aaliyah Dana Haughton, died in 2001 in a plane crash.
