President Trump called Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “two-faced” after a video clip went viral showing Trudeau gossiping about the president’s conduct at NATO meetings yesterday.
“Well, he’s two-faced,” Trump said when asked if he’d seen the video. “And honestly with Trudeau, he’s a nice guy,” Trump added after a long pause. “I find him to be a very nice guy.”
The president said that Trudeau was upset that he’d been critical of Canada failing to meet a 2 percent commitment to defense spending during their meeting on Tuesday.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation posted a video clip that showed Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson having appearing to have a conversation about Trump being late to meetings earlier in the day.
The NATO leaders did not appear to realize they were being recorded.
“He’s two-faced,” Pres. Trump says after Justin Trudeau hot mic moment stirred speculation he was mocking Pres. Trump. “I called him out on the fact that he’s not paying 2%, and I guess he’s not very happy about it.” https://t.co/Y20zMJ4lP1 pic.twitter.com/czO1LsnNNq
