A U.S. Marine has been arrested after being accused of trying to smuggle immigrants into the country, KGTV-TV reports.
The junior-enlisted Marine, based out of Camp Pendleton in California, was reportedly taken into earlier this week, but their identity has not been provided by CBP.
They are accused of trying to smuggle immigrants through the Ysidro Port of Entry. U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service are both investigating.
The Marine was not part of military personnel currently serving at the border to assist CBP and Border Patrol agents, Camp Pendleton said.
