A Marine deserter accused of murder is in custody following a manhunt that lasted more than two weeks. Michael Brown was taken into custody in Virginia on Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Police say Brown fatally shot 54-year-old Rodney Brown, his mother’s live-in boyfriend, on November 9. Brown, a combat engineer, had deserted Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina, last month.
Brown is charged with second-degree murder. Schools in Roanoke closed for a day and residents were warned to lock their doors and windows.
