Water Warning Issued for the Mississippi River by Arkansas Department of Health

A water warning has been issued by the Arkansas Department of Health for the Mississippi River, KARK-TV reports.

The Arkansas Department of Health issued the warning after they say minimally treated wastewater leaked into the river from a wastewater treatment plant in Greenville.

The section of the river covered by the warning is around Greenville beginning near coordinates N33.354134 W91.129622 and ends one mile downstream near Warfield Point Dike at Mississippi River Mile Marker 536 near coordinates N33.343036 W91.141387, the health department said.

Health officials recommend that people and pets, including dogs, avoid contact with river water until further notice.
