BREAKING: Dallas County Sheriff’s Deputy Charged with Looting Tornado-Damaged Home Depot

UPDATE: A second Dallas deputy, Rebecca Evans, has been arrested in connection to the investigation, KDFW-TV reports.

A deputy with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office has been arrested and accused of looting a tornado-damaged Home Depot store, NBC Dallas-Fort Worth reports.

Deputy Joseph Bobadilla was hired to work off-duty security guarding the store on Forest Lane that was damaged during the October 20th tornado outbreak that struck north Dallas.

Bobadilla has been detained and is being interrogated by detectives in the sheriff’s office’s criminal investigative division.

The investigation into the deputy began after Home Depot had contacted law enforcement because they had believed a deputy had stolen merchandise and then returned the stolen items to another store for in-store credit.
