Officials in York County, South Carolina, say that they have arrested several people in an operation targeting child exploitation, WBTV reports.
The operation, dubbed “Operation Vigilant Shepard,” resulted in the arrests of 10 people, including a professor, a marine, and a security guard.
Michael Bovino, 38, has since been placed on leave from Davidson College, where he was an associate professor. All 10 men have been charged with sex offenses, with officials adding that five of the men believed they were going to meet with a child younger than 14.
The York County Sheriff’s Office says that they are still trying to locate seven possible victims and that there are more arrests in connection to the operation expected.
