Law enforcement officials in Texas have issued an arrest warrant for state Rep. Poncho Nevárez, according to the Texas Tribune.
The warrant was issued after Nevárez, a Democrat, was seen dropping an envelope that contained cocaine.
He was reportedly caught on surveillance footage at an Austin airport dropping the envelope as he was leaving the area.
Nevárez, who chairs the House Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee, announced last week he was retiring from the lower chamber. He has since confirmed that his decision to retire stemmed from the incident.
