Maryland State Police say that they have determined the Baltimore police detective Sean Suiter died via suicide.
The announcement comes days before the two-year anniversary of Suiter’s death. He was found shot in the head in November of 2017 in west Baltimore and was due to testify day after his death before a federal grand jury in the Gun Trace Task Force corruption case.
The medical examiner had previously ruled Suiter’s death a homicide, while an independent review determined it to be a suicide. Two weeks after Suiter’s death, in December 2017, then-Commissioner Kevin Davis asked the FBI to take over the investigation, however the FBI declined to do so.
