A man has pleaded guilty in connection to a plot to launch a terror attack in Cleveland, Ohio, on the Fourth of July in 2018.
Demetrius Nathaniel Pitts, 50, pleaded guilty to attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, placing threats against the president of the United States and threats against the president’s family members. Authorities had been monitoring the man since 2017 after he expressed interest in meeting an al Qaeda “brother.”
Pitts reportedly planned to use a truck bomb attack similar to the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. He also pleaded guilty to threatening to kill President Trump and his immediate family members, namely Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.
