Infamous Chicago Mob Boss Dies in Prison

Infamous Chicago mob boss Joseph “Joey the Clown” Lombardo has reportedly died inside a Colorado prison.

Lombardo, who claimed to have been born in 1929, but was uncertain, was serving a life sentence for racketeering, murder and assorted other Outfit crimes. In his criminal life, he earned the nickname “Joey the Clown” for his many courtroom antics, such as placing a newspaper over his face with eyehole cutouts and a hole for his lit cigarette.

Lombardo climbed to becomes the head of the Chicago mob by supervising casino skimming, rigging labor contracts, making juice loans at 100% interest, breaking legs, and shooting, blowing up or simply garroting uncooperative customers.
