BREAKING: Mandatory Evacuations Ordered as Fire Threatens Hundreds of Homes in Los Angeles 

UPDATE: As of Monday afternoon, the fire has covered 40 acres, with fire crews saying that they have made progress in containing the blaze, per Spectrum News SoCal.

Mandatory evacuations have been ordered as a brush fire threatens hundreds of homes in the Pacific Palisades.

The brush fire has reportedly burned 40 acres as it threatens around 200 homes, according to LAFD. Evacuations were ordered in the area surrounded by Charmel Lane to the west, Bienveneda Avenue to the east, Merivale Lane to the south and the end of Lachman Lane to the north, encompassing eight residential blocks. One firefighter and one civilian have reportedly been injured in the blaze, per CBS Los Angeles.

Around 150 city and county firefighters were in place to battle the blaze from the air and the ground, however the blaze poses a significant challenge due to the steep terrain.
