Iranian Hackers Target Trump 2020 Campaign, Government Officials, and Journalists

Hackers with links to the Iranian government have made more than 2,700 attempts “to identify the email accounts of current and former United States government officials, journalists covering political campaigns and accounts associated with” President Trump’s 2020 campaign, according to the New York Times.

The revelations come from Microsoft, although the tech company did not confirm which presidential campaign was involved, the New York Times and other news outlets confirmed Friday it was the president’s re-election campaign.

Other government-sponsored hackers, including from Russia and North Korea, have also began trying to target presidential campaigns, and the DNC has put out an alert warning candidates.
