The mayor of Atlantic City, New Jersey, has reportedly resigned after pleading guilty to wire fraud.
Frank Gilliam has admitted in court to defrauding a youth basketball club he had founded out of $87,000. Half of the money that he stole from the organization was reportedly found inside his home during an FBI raid last December.
Gilliam told the judge he stole funds raised from donors in Atlantic City and Philadelphia, using the money for personal expenses from 2013 and 2018. He was elected mayor in 2017 after serving as a City Councilman.
