New Zealand’s education minister has called for an investigation after a college student’s body was found inside their dorm room 8 weeks after dying.
The incident reportedly took place at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch. The student’s body reportedly stayed inside of their dorm room for nearly two months, undiscovered, until other students began reporting a foul odor. Their cause of death is unknown.
The dorm is run by Australian company Campus Living Villages, which also operates dorms in the U.S. and Britain. The company said it was saddened by the death but wouldn’t be commenting on the circumstances after the student’s family requested privacy.
