Federal agents have reportedly raided the Springfield and Cicero offices of Illinois state Senator Martin Sandoval.
The FBI raided both the offices around noon Tuesday, but did not disclose the reason behind the raids. At least eight men left the Senate Democratic offices carrying two cardboard boxes, two brown bags labeled “evidence” and what appeared to be a desktop computer, wrapped in plastic.
An FBI spokesman confirmed that agents were at the capitol Tuesday conducting “authorized law enforcement activity,” but declined to comment further, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Sandoval, who chairs the state Senate Transportation Committee, has worked with state House Speaker Michael Madigan over the years on a variety of issues.
