Federal Charges Filed Against Greenpeace Protestors in Texas

Federal charges have been brought against 22 Greenpeace protestors believed to have been involved in a day-long protest on a bridge in Baytown, Texas.

The protestors reportedly formed a blockade over the bridge ahead of the third 2020 Democratic debate Thursday, forcing the closure of the Houston Ship Channel and impacting traffic in the area. The operation to remove the protestors took much of Thursday, only ending early Friday morning.

U.S. Attorney Ryan Patrick said each activist is charged with one count of aiding and abetting obstruction of navigable waters.
