A Florida man who was accused earlier this year of threatening a mass shooting has been arrested on weapons charges.
Larry Morelli Jr., 24, was arrested earlier this year after a social media post appeared to indicate that he would commit a mass shooting. He was arrested again Wednesday after police received tips that he had been trying to sell firearms on social media.
A search warrant that was conducted at his home revealed an Eagle Arms AR-15 rifle, a Core 15 AR-15 rifle with scope, a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun, an F12 magazine-fed 12-gauge shotgun with ammunition, and 412 rounds of various types of ammunition. This constituted a violation of a risk protection order stemming from the earlier case that prohibited him from buying, selling, or possessing firearms for one year.
Detectives also reportedly found marijuana, hashish wax, THP vape pens, steroid vials, suboxone, and a glass pipe and scale with marijuana residue in Morelli’s home. Morelli faces five counts each of violation of risk protection order and person engaged in criminal offense/having weapons.
