A 15-year-old Guatemalan girl who was brought illegally into the country by human traffickers have been rescued by the Tarrant County, Texas, human trafficking unit.
The girl was reportedly being forced to work at a local restaurant to pay off a debt. She was able to contact a friend, who then contacted the agency. During their investigation, they discovered the victim was being dropped off at the restaurant she worked at by the suspect, 36-year-old Cesar Augusto Valdez-Perez.
Valdez-Perez has been charged with trafficking a child, forced labor and two counts of fraudulent use/possession of identifying information.
An investigation into Valdez-Perez is ongoing.
