Jessi Combs, the “Fastest Woman on Four Wheels” has died following a “horrific crash” while trying to break her own land speed record.
Combs was driving a jet-powered car yesterday in Oregon when something went wrong, causing the volatile vehicle to crash. A crew member who confirmed her death called the scene of the crash “horrific” and called Combs “the most amazing spirit that I have ever or will ever know.”
Combs had been attempting to break her own land-speed record, which she set in 2016 by driving nearly 478 MPH in the same desert. The cause of the crash is under investigation. She has spent time on the television show “Mythbusters” as well as “Overhaulin.”
Combs was 36.
