Orthodontist Indicted in Fraud Scheme Involving Former Arkansas State Senator

An orthodontist from Florida has been indicted for his role in a bribery and fraud scheme that involved a former Arkansas state Senator.

Benjamin Gray Burris, 47, has been charged with 14 counts of honest services wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud. He reportedly worked alongside former Arkansas State Senator Jeremy Hutchinson to devise a scheme where Burris would retain Hutchinson as an attorney and pay him to make legislation that would help his orthodontics business.

On June 25, 2019, Hutchinson, 45, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit federal program bribery. He has yet to be sentenced.
