A man who police say is suspected of placing rice cookers at a New York City subway station has been taken into custody. New York Police Department Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea tweeted Saturday that the man police were looking to question had been “apprehended.” The man was taken into police custody early Saturday morning.
No charges have been announced or any other details about the arrest have been released by police. CNN reported that the man was taken into custody on a previous warrant unrelated to Friday’s incident.
Authorities quickly worked to identify the man after they said he was seen on surveillance video holding one of the rice cookers, which were initially described as suspicious devices.
