BREAKING: Active Shooter Incident Reported in Philadelphia; At Least Six Officers Injured

At least six police officers have reportedly been injured in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in an active shooter situation.

The unidentified officers were reportedly shot in the area of Nicetown-Tioga, where at least one gunman remains inside of a home. CBS Philadelphia reports that six officers have been shot, according to the FOP president. The incident has reportedly began as a narcotics investigation at the home, per CBS News.

A SWAT team and multiple agencies are responding and shots have continued to be fired by the suspect, according to police. Police also say that none of the injuries to officers are considered to be life-threatening, per CBS Philadelphia. A police negotiator has been attempting to end the situation peacefully, per WTXF-TV, but the suspect has not responded to their requests.

A lockdown had been issued at Temple University’s Health Sciences Center, but that has since been lifted. Police earlier stated that the incident was being livestreamed by the shooter on Facebook, per CBS Philadelphia, but it is unclear if that stream is still active. Police spokesperson Eric Gripp has advised media and the public to avoid flying drones in the area.

Parents and guardians of children at the Shake, Rattle, and Roll Learning Center and Precious Babies Daycare can pick up their children at 3643 Germantown Ave., per CBS Philadelphia. The daycare had previously been under a shelter-in-place order.
