A South Dakota three-year-old who reportedly died of malnourishment and dehydration has prompted the arrest of two people who reportedly kept the girl in a small area surrounded by feces.
Robert Price, 27, and Renae Fayant, 25, were arrested late Thursday night without incident. The aunt of the child reportedly called police after she found the little girl unresponsive. Police searched the property and discovered the child had been confined to a small area of the home where human and animal feces could be found. Based on the investigation, authorities believed the girl was deprived of food and human contact.
The girl’s cause of death was officially determined to be from malnourishment and dehydration. Price and Fayant have been charged with second-degree murder and child abuse in connection to the death.
