UPDATE: The deceased Navy pilot has been identified as 33-year-old Lt. Charles Z. Walker. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
A U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet reportedly crashed near Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake in California on Wednesday. The crash reportedly occurred in the popular “Star Wars Canyon” area in Death Valley National Park.
Officials say that at least seven people were injured on the ground after the jet crashed in Death Valley National Park. All of those injured were visitors to the park.
