BREAKING: Congressman Announces Retirement

Republican Representative Mike Conaway has announced that he will be retiring from Congress at the end of his term.

Conaway, who represents District 11 in Texas, was first elected to the House in 2004. He is the top Republican on the House Agriculture Committee and serves as a senior member of the House Intelligence Committee, where he played a key role in its Russia probe.

The 71-year-old says that the end of his leadership role on the agriculture committee played a factor in his decision. He is the fifth Republican lawmaker to announce their retirement in the past two weeks.
