A Texas sheriff’s deputy who also appeared on a courtroom TV show was arrested for allegedly fatally shooting his wife over the weekend.
Deputy Renard Spivey, of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, called police around 3 a.m. Sunday to report what he called an accidental shooting, authorities told ABC 13. The situation involved a domestic disturbance, police said.
Spivey’s wife, Patricia Spivey, was pronounced dead on the scene, while he sustained a leg wound, police said. The deputy was arrested and charged with murder.
Spivey was featured as a bailiff on the TV show “Justice for All with Judge Cristina Perez” from 2012 to 2016. Court documents show that Spivey may have a mental illness or intellectual disability and he will undergo a mental health assessment.
