An off-duty Los Angeles police officer was killed in a shooting in the Eastside of the city early Saturday.
Just before 1 a.m. someone flagged down and alerted an LAPD motorcycle officer about a shooting in the area of Lincoln Heights and Cypress, LAPD Assistant Chief Beatrice Girmala announced in a news conference.
The officer discovered two victims, one of them an off-duty LAPD officer. That officer has been pronounced dead, Girmala said. The other victim, who’s not an officer, was hospitalized and is currently undergoing treatment, according to LAPD.
This City will stand with the officer’s family every step of the way, and will not rest until we find and prosecute a vicious killer. My Crisis Response Team has been sent to comfort and assist the family at this moment of unthinkable grief.
