U.S. Representative Pete Olson will reportedly retire from his position in Congress, opening up a potentially competitive seat for the 2020 election.
Texas Tribune reporter Abby Livingston reported the impending retirement of Olson, who represents the Sugar Land area. Olson, 56, has served in his position since 2009 as a Republican. His district covers much of southern Houston, as well as suburbs such as Katy, Pearland, and Sugar Land.
Previously, Olson was a lawyer and a member of the U.S. Navy, joining shortly after graduating law school in 1988. He earned his Naval Aviator wings in 1991.
