South Korea says that they fired warning shots at a Russian military aircraft on Tuesday, according to BBC News.
The incident occurred when the Russian A-50 military aircraft entered South Korean airspace, the South Korean Ministry of Defense claims.
Upon entering the territory, South Korea says it scrambled fighter jets and fired warning shots. More shots were later fired when the Russian plane reportedly returned.
According to BBC News, “South Korea’s military said the aircraft was one of three Russian and two Chinese military warplanes that entered the Korea Air Defense Identification Zone (KADIZ), where overseas aircraft must identify themselves beforehand, on Tuesday morning.”
South Korea has lodged a complaint with the Security Council of Russia.
