Russian professional boxer Maxim Dadashev has reportedly died after suffering a brain injury during a fight Friday.
Dadashev, 28, suffered serious brain injuries during his fight with Subriel Matias. Dadashev lost the IBF light-welterweight fight after previously being 13-0. He was hospitalized after the match, which ended early due to the numerous blows to the head.
Footage from the match shows trainer McGirt begging Dadashev to stop the fight, telling him: “You’re getting hit too much, Max. Please, Max, please let me do this.” The referee stopped the fight at McGirt’s request.
