BREAKING: Music Legend Dies

Art Neville, member of the “Neville Brothers” and “The Meters,” has reportedly died at the age of 81.

Neville, who was a founding member of the groundbreaking funk band “The Meters,” reportedly died Monday at his home in New Orleans with his wife by his side. His immediate cause of death was not provided, however he had been battling declining health in recent years.

For years, the Neville Brothers were the closing act at the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, while “The Meters” were frequently cited by other musicians as being a significant influence to their music. The other members of the Neville Brothers included Charles, Cyril, and Aaron. Charles died in 2018.

Neville is also credited with creating a remake of a country song called “Mardi Gras Mambo,” which has persisted as a staple of the Carnival season.
