Syrian Man Accused of Plotting Terrorist Attack on Church in Pittsburgh

A Syrian man has been indicted by a grand jury on terrorist charges after he reportedly planned an attack on a church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Mustafa Mousab Alowemer, 21, reportedly was planning to bomb a church on the north side of the city, with the apparent motivation being to further the cause of ISIS. It is also believed that he was planning the attack in hopes of getting others to join ISIS.

According to the complaint, Alowemer was born in Daraa, Syria, and has resided in the United States since August 2016. Between April 16 and June 11, the man reportedly met four times in person with an FBI Undercover Employee (UCE) and/or an FBI Confidential Human Source (CHS) and discussed his plans.
