A New Jersey police officer has been arrested and charged with the murder of his three-month-old daughter.
Daniel Bannister, 31, who was a detective with the Mercer County Homicide Task Force, was taken into custody in connection to the death of his daughter. Authorities responded on December 5, 2018, to Bannister’s home after three-month-old Hailey Bannister was having trouble breathing. Officials say the child was found unresponsive at the scene and was transported to an area hospital where she died days later.
Medical personnel stated that before her death, Hailey suffered a fractured skull, brain bleed, and had multiple fractured ribs. The man’s wife, Catherine Bannister, is also being charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child in connection with Hailey’s death.
